At Drift-a-Bit we offer whitewater rafting trips on the New and Gauley rivers, two of America's best. To make your adventure vacation in West Virginia complete we have partnered with other quality adventure specialists to provide activities in addition to your whitewater rafting trip. These adventure add-ons can be customized to combine a half or full-day of rafting with a half or full-day of mountain biking, rock climbing or horseback riding. Full-day trips can also be combined with a full-day of cave exploration or one or more days of kayak instruction. Please call or e-mail us with any questions. (Photo by Whitewater Photography)
Horseback Riding
Explore the New River Gorge from a very different vantage point, horseback. These trips provide a slower pace for a relaxing adventure that offers outstanding views of the New River Gorge. Perfect for families with children, these trips are guided by experienced, knowledgeable horsemen.
Mountain Biking
The mountain biking trails of the New River Gorge have steadily grown in popularity and for good reason. Many miles of trails wind through the Gorge past the remains of turn of the century coal towns offering outstanding vistas of the New River Gorge and the surrounding foothills. There are many trails available to suit any skill level or desired trip
duration. (Photo by Steven Shaluta Jr.)
Rock Climbing & Rappelling
The New River Gorge is quickly becoming the premier eastern climbing destination. With literally thousands of climbs ranging from easy (5.1) to extreme difficulty (5.13) the Gorge's "Endless Wall" makes it easy to find routes for all to enjoy. Whether you are a beginner or experienced climber or simply prefer to rappel, the New River Gorge has it all.
You can also enjoy the incredible climbing opportunities and striking scenery available at Summersville Lake. These unique trips are available as full-day adventures only. A pontoon boat will serve as the day's mobile base and will allow access to some of the lakes most secluded areas. You will have time to swim, enjoy a cookout and climb the lake's cliff faces which were once part of the Gauley canyon. The cliffs, towering 70 feet above the crystal clear waters of Summersville Lake, provide you with an incredible vantage point of some of West Virginia's best
scenery. (Photo by Hard Rock Climbing Services)
Cave Exploration
These trips allow you a full-day of adventure in some of the United States most beautiful and accessible caves. Known as spelunking, these tours allow for the exploration of West Virginia's underground world full of fascinating natural formations. These tours include all necessary equipment including, helmet, light and knee pads. Due to the time involvement of these trips they are offered only as full-day complement to your New River whitewater rafting trip. (Photo by Adventour LLC)
Kayak Clinics
These clinics provide professional instruction to speed your learning process of one of the worlds fastest growing sports. Clinics are available as one and two day instruction in addition to your express or full-day whitewater rafting trip. These clinics cover the flat water basics and serve as a great introduction to kayaking. (Photo by Southern Exposure)
